Born at the start of the 80s, I grew up in a home filled with music ranging from Stevie Wonder, Barry White and MJ, to Pink Floyd, Simply Red, and Muddy Waters. By my mid-teens, I had discovered deep and soulful house music through a combination of a dodgy nightclub in Cyprus, passed on recordings of pirate radio shows, and then my first of many experiences in Garage City at Bar Rumba, all of which had me totally hooked.
I then caught the DJing bug in the late 90s at university in Manchester. After buying my first decks and mixer, I was soon blasting all my money (previously allocated for baked beans, kebabs, vodka, and barely staying alive) in the fantastic record stores of the Northern Quarter.
When it comes to tune choosing (say that quickly five times), I never really know what I’m going to play, which means you don’t either (hopefully that’s a positive!) I’m pretty used to DJing to a wide variety of audiences, particularly after living in East Asia for over a decade and playing out in the likes of Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam – so anything is possible. But it’s gotta be soulful and make at least one body part twitch in time.
It’s a proper pleasure to be part of this wicked radio station, and I would be absolutely delighted if you can join me for the Face For Radio Sessions. Even better if you make it into the chatroom for some weird and wonderful convo. Cheers!
