Steve Williams

I’ve had a love of electronica going back to the early 80s when Breakdancing first came about, but my early house music interest only came from the charts with the likes of Farley Jackmaster Funks, Love Can’t Turn Around, Steve Silk Hurley’s, Jack Your Body and Marshall Jefferson’s, House Music Anthem.
It wasn’t until I listened to tapes my elder brother brought home from the 80s underground nights in Middlesbrough’s Havana and Paradise Lost in Tenerife that I found what was to become a 35 year passion for dance and electronic music in various forms.
DJing and a vinyl obsession started in the 90s and my original Technics 1210s are still going strong and the vinyl gets an outing from time to time with the vinyl only social sessions at Blossom Street Social in Manchester with fellow VocalBooth Radio DJ, DML.

The Immerse show is a chance for me to delve deep into my own archive but also to uncover new tunes from across the ages and genres.
I’ve listened to so many DJs who have influenced the music I’ve listened to from my first days clubbing in the North East then across the UK and abroad.
Even 30 years on, my style is still developing but the most important thing is I will play music I’ve loved for years or have recently discovered and feel it should be shared.

VocalBooth Radio has given me the freedom to be diverse and go with what feels good. So I hope the Immerse shows make you feel the same!
